Directors Identification Number
The Directors Identification Number (“DIN”) scheme commenced on 1 November 2021.
All directors of a company, registered Australian body, registered foreign company or Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander corporation are required to have a director identification number (director ID).
The Commissioner of Taxation is the head of the registry, and the ATO use myGovID for directors to verify their identity.
Registration Due Dates
On commencement of the scheme, Directors were required to register by 30 November 2021, or within 28 days of becoming a director until 4 April 2022, after which registration must be made before appointment.
