ABN Lookup

Australian Business Register – ABN Lookup – abr.business.gov.au

ABN Lookup provides online access to the Australian Business Register for publicly available information supplied by businesses when they register for an Australian Business Number (ABN).

The register shows the GST registration status of the entity (including sole traders, companies, trusts and other entities) and the ABN number as well as current trading names.

The register can be searched either by name, ABN or ACN for corporate entities.

The ATO website is the official Federal Government information source for all things tax, GST, super and SMSFs, including information about lodgments, returns and deductions, rulings and cases, forms, decision tools and calculators.

ABN and Tax Registrations

Applications for an Australian Business Number (ABN) and tax registrations including a TFN for companies, trusts and partnerships, GST, PAYG (withholding) and fuel tax credits are processed by the Australian Business Register.

Auskey

Once registered, a documented associate of an entity (e.g. director) can apply for an Auskey.

The Auskey is a digital pass key enabling online access to the BAS/GST (etc) lodgement systems.

ASIC - Business Names and Companies

The Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) – asic.gov.au

ASIC administers applications for business names and corporate entities and keeps registers which are accessible to the public. Free name enquiries can be made online here: ASIC Registry Search

Information about a company’s status and any process (e.g. winding up notices) can be checked and downloaded at cost.
