myGovID is a phone application enabling access to online government services.
The Auskey digital pass key enabling online access to the BAS/GST lodgment systems via the Business Portal was replaced by myGovID from the end of March 2020.
The myGovID system enables two-factor identification via a smartphone app for logging into the Business Portal and for various other purposes.
Authorisation for use of the system must be established via the Relationship Authorisation Manager which requires an authorised associate of the business entity to link your business to the government services being used.
Setting up on the Relationship Authorisation Manager for the first time requires that you (as a “Principal authority”) correctly identify yourself, matching the government record as entered when registering for an ABN and various business tax registrations (or as subsequently updated). For example as a Sole Trader, registered ABN associate, director or public officer.
